1. Angela Duckworth – Grit

The University of Pennsylvania professor started off as a business consultant and transitioned to teaching. Before becoming a professor she was teaching elementary students. As she started analyzing the kids she taught, she found the common trait found behind the most successful students and people didn’t come from intelligence, but rather having grit. 2. Simon Sinek – How Great Leaders Inspire Action

Renowned author and leadership/business consultant was able to put together one of the most compelling TED Talks with a few markers and paper. Sinek looks at what is at the core of great companies and do they inspire great employees and customers to purchase their content. In real estate, it’s easy to get pulled a million directions, but knowing what is your “why” is important.

3. Dr. Ivan Joseph – The Skill of Self Confidence

Athletic Director and head coach of the Ryerson University, Dr. Ivan Joseph talks about you can build self-confidence. Through deliberate practice and treating self-confidence like any other skill — one that can be learned and practiced. For real estate professionals, the key is to push through failure when recruiting or calling new prospects.

4. Kalina Silverman How to Skip the Small Talk and Connect with Anyone

Kalina wondered what would happen if she engaged with strangers, skipped the small talk and talked about what really mattered. What this can teach real estate professionals is to more than talk about the weather with your clients. Everyone wants to connect with someone in a meaningful way, so think about that when you’re cultivating your relationships.

5. Ernesto Sirolli – Want to help someone? Shut up and listen!

To start helping without listening is foolish. Ernesto talks about how you must take a step back and listen to the people you’re trying to help and then guide them towards their solution. For Real Estate professionals, listen to your agents and buyers/sellers and hear their concerns, wants and needs. If someone cares about the kitchen, don’t show them the view of a place first. And you’ll only ever know this by asking what’s most important to the person you’re showing the home.
